I have a distributor, petrol tank and one or two more bits lying around. What are you after?

Re: 8 year project nearing completion

Hi, Well done it looks a lot different to when I saw it last, that is when i collected the down pipe from you. I love the mullberry seats. I think the high level lights are a good safety feature. I have fitted the downpipe after much swearing and cursing. if you want a run out I live a few miles fro...

Re: Leather renovation kit

Stenatco, that is interesting, how do you feed the leather if the coating is impermeable?
Should I feed the leather before application?

Re: Leather renovation kit

Thanks for the replies, I will contact the supplier recommended. Did the colour last well?

I am looking forward to having seats without torn stitching.

Leather renovation kit

I have just made a great buy on Ebay, I bid one hundred pounds for the seats out of an XJ-s. No one else was interested so I duly went to collect them. They were in really good condition, I have the complete set. Sadly my car is a cabriolet and I suspect the rear seats will not fit. However the fron...

Re: XJS factory fitted sunroof , mystery solved..........

Is the car painted yet? When I called to collect the downpipe you said it was about to be done. I loved the interior colour.

Re: v12 downpipe

Job practically completed, just got sidetracked into dealing with rusty airboxes. Will be going to the Beaulieu Autojumble, I may be able to get the straight pipe I need there. at the moment I have bodged it with a repair kit. Next job is to look again at the leaking targa roof. I have already chang...

Re: v12 downpipe

Yes they cut the subframe and left the ends touching. I have the Dana diff and there is not sufficient clearance with the shield fitted to allow the pipe to thread through the subframe. It was not Kwik Fit, but a self styled exhaust specialist who did the deed. I prefer to do my own repairs to ensur...

Re: v12 downpipe

Clive, I doubt Kwik fit would touch replacing a front pipe. If they did it would cost much more than fifty pounds. Moving the steering rack and heat shields just to access two nuts is intimidating to the average fitter. In any case I like the suffering, particularly when it stops. My car already has...

Re: v12 downpipe

Been carrying the downpipe round in the daily driver since I collected it. Replacement bolts arrived from SNG Barratt yesterday, running out of excuses. I decided to try and drill out the broken stud, by a miracle I found I could get the drill up inside the engine bay and just reach the broken stud....

Re: v12 downpipe

Update, I have sent the exhaust down pipe back, and received a refund. I have collected the pipe offered by brake buster. Thanks Vince, sorry we could not talk longer. Wife gets impatient left in the car. I have ordered new studs from SNG Barratt and just received new compression gaskets from Ebay. ...

Re: v12 downpipe

I have now removed the airbox to help access, nice to know I am not suffering alone Paul. Having introduced a lump hammer and piece of bar into the equation without any hint of succes I am presently applying plasters to my hands. The piece of bar was to hit the downpipe, not to drink in. Though who ...

v12 downpipe

My xjs was due an MOT. While checking over the car I found a small blow on the LH downpipe where the bottom flange was welded on. the application of exhaust sealant round the flange temporarily sealed it off for the test. Having passed the MOT I scraped off sealant and realised the pipe was very thi...

Re: Auxiliary cooling fan

If the engine overheats only when idling the likelyhood is you need a new viscous assy. once this fails or loses efficiency cooling suffers when ticking over. Also check the fan for cracks, the original yellow ones have been known to disintegrate and modify the shape of the bonnet. The replacement i...

Re: Relays

Have you cleaned the radiator matrix? Paying particular attention to the gap between the aircon rad and the main rad. You will need to remove the top plate that holds the main rad in position, ease it forward and look down. It is likely the gap will be full of debris. I used a hose to flush the matr...
