Re: I usually drive an XJR but now I`m going to be a Hurricane pilot!

Glad you had a good holiday, Jerry. The Cub has progressed well. Look forward to seeing more images soon. Today, Boris became Prime Minister but Bi-stormer work continued in the hangar with more orange sunburst trim being applied. 20190723_090255.jpg 20190723_090304.jpg Since these images were taken...

Re: MAF sensor clean up. ....all modern Jags applicable.

Frankly, any easy flash off solvent capable of breaking up crank case oil residue will be capable of destroying the gunk on the wire. As said previously, don`t try scrapping with a hard metal implement or the hot wire will become damaged. The MAP sensor below the throttle body also suffers from grun...

Re: I usually drive an XJR but now I`m going to be a Hurricane pilot!

Thank you, Jerry. Enjoy your hols! A little more progress made on the Bi-stormer. Inter-plane strut mounts have been shaped to an appropriate profile and struts manufactured. Images on that aspect when I next do another photo session. A days effort now sees the wings covered in silver heat shrink co...

Re: Transmission fill point

The fill point is the breather vent on the top of the gearbox. Question...How do you know your gearbox needs a top up? Topping up is really a garage operation with the car on a ramp with the rear wheels jacked off the ramp. Starting from cold temperature, the transmission is brought up to temperatur...

Re: Solar powered trickle charger

In my own opinion, the cell is much like many others on the market and will help keep up battery terminal voltage. That said, I`d recommend that you frequently check battery voltage to ensure the cell does not exceed 14.4v if your battery is in a depleted condition. With the aid of a volt meter, you ...

Re: rear brake pads failure

Paul is correct on sizes and suppliers. Early cars with the orange wing indicator lamps have silver "Jaguar R" Brembo calipers and large diameter discs of 365mm. The pre-face lift and run out models from about MY05 and with clear oval indicators lamps have black Teves calipers and front discs of 355...

Re: Coolant Leak just at top of header tank

Examine the small pipes around the neck of the tank. You will no doubt find cracks where the pipes join the tank. With age and heat, the plastic embrittles, breaks and causes leaks. Tanks only last about 70k miles on these cars and most of us with higher mileage cars will have found a need to fit a ...

Re: Hi, i'm new to all this and i need help !!!!

I have a damper bush gone and all the kit to do it. I used to do this type of work with ease but now I can`t. Off to a local garage goes my car next week for this job. I no longer want the pain!

Re: rear brake pads failure

The prices you quote are exorbitant! I fitted four genuine new TRD/Mintex discs and all pads together with the four small handbrake pad sets for £200 a couple of years ago. You can get similar prices by grabbing the part numbers and tapping individually into an internet search engine. Ebay sourced a...

Three shots of the Bi-stormer with all the prime parts fitted for the first time. It is starting to become a very pretty looking model and I hope it flies without issues. A few more days of concerted effort and it will be done.

Green and red classification correct. Red fitted to the XJR.

Blue dot classification is unfamiliar to me. Can anyone else help?

Re: Differential Life

Check for N/S drive shaft oil seal failure/leaks. A leak usually means the diff has an issue. Comparable car, XJR 350. I`d immediately have diff oil changed if you buy the car. Diff oil is cheap, diffs are not! I`ll be changing diff oil again at the next 60k service interval. I imagine the service s...

Re: I usually drive an XJR but now I`m going to be a Hurricane pilot!

Inspired by my visit to the Headcorn Airshow, the build on the Bi-stormer bi-plane has progressed further. Both wings are now near complete with just the servo mountings to concoct for the lower wing together with rationalizing the mountings for the lower wing inter-plane struts. Two additional part...

Re: Restricted Performance

Oil dilution and raised sump levels can occur in any diesel engine if other issues are present to cause the condition. Short journeys and fuel wash into the sump is the biggest issue which can lead to the engine running un-controlably on its own high level diluted engine oil. Weekly engine oil level...
