Re: New member Series 1 2 plus 2 Auto

Hi Paul, I've just noticed your post.....I have a similar car, as does Art who is the forum coordinator, though his is manual. The models section of this site says there were 974 produced but there isn't any further breakdown of that figure. My car has a Series 1 Heritage certificate but having atte...

Re: 67 popping after engine turn off

Hi, Nice car! I'm no expert but I'd say your initial hestitation is old stale fuel working its way through? The loud pop, or backfire is unburnt fuel igniting in the exhaust.....a few causes are possible including the timing being out or the carbs running very rich. It may be worth getting the carbs...

Re: Tyres

Hi Lawrence,

I replaced mine last year through Vintage Tyres in Beaulieu and bought .....Avons!

Try their website, you can search by vehicle type or tyre....great service.

Cheers, Simon.

Re: Fibre washers affected by bioethanol?

.....thanks for the advice guys, I'll keep an eye for a while though I've found out that SNG Barratt will relieve me of 47p each for new washers (plus postage that will probably be more than the total cost!) so I may just go ahead and replace them anyway.

Cheers, Simon.

Fibre washers affected by bioethanol?

Hi all, Had a fabulous weekend at Wroxall, (apart from sitting in a sauna on the M25 for a while on our return journey), very well done to the organising committee and everyone involved. However, on the short run back to our hotel on Sunday there was a worrying smell of fuel. Once I'd parked up I co...

Re: Rear hatch seal replacement S2 2+2

Hi again, Well you'd be amazed (or perhaps not!) at the variety of seals in the back of e-types of all ages, and equally the different ways they've been applied! After having chatted to many owners, I took the view that the car in the concours competition was probably right! So, the seal sits in the...

Re: Colour for S1 headlamp nacelle/scoop?

Hi Rob,

Mine is flat Hammerite silver, never seen one mottled, but then I can't say I've looked that much. You probably need a reply from someone who's into concours to be sure but I think the silver looks fine.....

Cheers, Simon.

Re: Rear hatch seal replacement S2 2+2

Hi Chris, This happens to be a job on my list, but I was going to have a look around at as many tailgates as I can at the Windsor weekend to make sure I get it right. I bought some new seals from SNG Barrett to replace my current ones which some previous owner had stuck to the tailgate rather than i...

Re: E-type flywheel

.....afraid I've never seen my flywheel (and hope I don't really!), but looking at the item in SNGBarratt's catalogue, it's similar but not exactly the same, especially the holes around the outer rim.

Good hunting, Simon.

Re: Nearly new to Jaguars

Hi Jerome, and welcome. That looks like quite a brave decision to purchase in that condition, but I guess you could see the finished article in your mind?! I am contemplating a respray of my car next winter so I had a look at Splined Hub's website.....too far away for me, but your car is featured (m...

Hi John,

A quick Google for Webasto returned this:

Hope that gives you something nearby that will be able to help you.

Best of luck, Simon.

Re: Bleeding an empty system

Hi Peter, Well, I'm afraid my kit car is a much more basic system, no servo, though of course a considerably lighter vehicle so the pedal just requires a firm push. I had no problem with the master cylinder, but I'm afraid can't advise further, other than a google of Eezibleed may elicit some helpfu...

Re: Bleeding an empty system

Hi, The only experience I've had of starting from empty was when I built my kit car, back in 1999, however, I recall that after failing with frantic pumping of the brake pedal by a willing volunteer (Mrs) I bought an Ezibleed kit, which connects to the top of the reservoir, and is pressurised by ano...
