Re: Garage Frost protection

All air contains moisture. The aim is not to exceed the dew point so that condensation doesn't form. My Hampshire UK garage is unheated but quite drafty and condensation forms only a couple of times on the car during winter, not enough for me to worry about but then I use it in all weathers anyway. ...

Re: Old car smell

When I saw the title I initially thought it was about the advanced age of the average Jaguar owner  However, replacing the carpets is likely to be an improvement, especially if all damp underlay is replaced. The key to retaining the, shall I say ambience rather then smell, is to use Gliptone L...

Re: Mystery black box - any idea what it is?

The wiring above the inertia sensor looks like Mr Diy has been in there. Maybe an aftermarket alarm or immobiliser?

Check the bonnet catch, it can rub on a wiring loom when the bonnet is closed which could cause a short, you should be able to see if any wiring insulation is worn away.

Re: Oil pressure gauge drop off.

If the red light is off I wouldn't worry.
Maybe it's running thinner synthetic oil, either way don't overfill. Go by the dipstick when cold on a level surface.

Keys/Wallet

Applies to anyone, not just Jags. First of all, make sure you have a fully working spare car key, especially modern ones with a chip. If you only have one key, get another one now - like today, don't put it off any longer. A friend at work lost his car key. He only walked a short distance from the c...

Re: Recycling and JEC

My new plastic JEC membership card just arrived. I'm wondering why I need it? I have been a member for many, many years and have never been asked for it anywhere. Insurance etc just want the membership number. Possibly a question for James, Is there a way of opting out of getting a new one each year...

Re: Jaguar XJS Horns

There is a brass rod and plastic support under the steering wheel soft front, the rod earths the supply from the horn relay to operate them. Try undoing the large adjuster nut behind the steering wheel and pulling and pushing a bit.

They can be a bit problematic if disturbed.

Re: Dues anyone here run a shed?

Good replies, makes total sense. Just as the price of dead-donkey cars can get dragged up by 1st class specimens (think E Type, XK140, even XJS etc.) I think it's also true that very good cars get dragged down in value by models that are out of fashion/undesirable (think S, X Type and maybe XJ40 etc...
