Re: Air conditioning drain blockage

Hi Dave, The good news is that you don't have to disconnect the heater or aircon pipes. The Jaguar procedure quotes a time of 2.8 hours to do the job but as a first time activity, it's probably as well to at least double that figure. You have to remove the instrument panel. Then, undo the two visib...

Air conditioning drain blockage

Hi all, I have a 2007 MY 4.2 XK NA which has developed the blockage of the duckbill problem. I have looked at various short fixes such as adding your own drain ect. Ultimately I have decided to do the job correctly by replacing the drain tube with the revised part. I have attached an image of the pa...

Re: Rattle on cold start V8 4.2

Yes thanks again Mike. I think my oil problem may be partly due to change intervals of approx 12000 miles compounded by continual slow speeds. I have commuted with this car for over six years ten miles each way through heavy traffic. I am a little disappointed to find that this lovely engine has suf...

Re: Rattle on cold start V8 4.2

Well, I have managed to sort this out without any repairs at all. By chance I had decided to try a product called 'Cataclean' as I was getting 'pinking' on hard acceleration accompanied by a cloud of smoke behind the car. So I put the 'cataclean' in the tank when it was down to 1/4 which is about 25...

Re: Rattle on cold start V8 4.2

Hi Rob, thanks for that. I will be doing the flush this weekend. Only worry is, will the flush cause other problems due to the cleaning action?

Re: Rattle on cold start V8 4.2

Thanks Mike, what you say fits with the symptoms. I will try the cleaner and oil change and report back.

Rattle on cold start V8 4.2

I hear a sharp rattle on startup from cold which only lasts about a second, then I hear a noisy tappet for a further few minutes until it goes quiet and then the engine runs quiet all day. Once it has been idle overnight, it repeats the noises as before. I suspect either one of the VVT actuators or ...

Headlamp failure

Has anybody had a headlamp fail yet on the X350? Can the transformer be reapaired or is it replacement only? Is it a seperate unit or is it a complete headlamp assembly? Do you need to remove the bumper to get at it?
Thanks, Dave.

Thanks for all replies, I have done the job now. No problems, just made sure to bleed excess fluid rather than pushing it back into the ABS pump. Brake pipes were looked at by dealer under recall and found to be OK.

X350 Front brakes

Can anyone tell me if I need any special tools or knowledge to renew the front discs and pads on my friends 2003 X350 3.0 sport. I am competent with this sort of work, but have not worked on the X350 yet.
Thanks in advance,
Dave Donoghue.
