Re: Zytek ECU Tuning/Diagnostics

Maybe someone will wire up a Raspberry Pi to do it. The latest Pi has number of General Purpose IO pins you can sense or drive to 0 or 5V, plus two 4K TV sockets, all for under £40. Alternatively, someone could program a Pi to completely replace the Zytek kit. Just a Small Matter of Programming, as ...

Re: Wipers only work on slow speed

Looking at the circuit diagram, both relays get a +12V feed to pin 1 from the front fuse box. The relay coil (and a protection diode) sit between pin 1 and pin 2 ; pin 2 is connected directly to the front electronic module (FEM). So as Mike says, it's negative switching, and the FEM pulls pin 2 to g...

Re: Wipers only work on slow speed

... I can see an error codes which say the slow high speed relay circuit is short circuit to ground and I can't seem to clear that error ... If the diagnosis is correct, you should be able to locate short with a voltmeter and a wiring diagram - my guess would be some damaged insulation, or somethin...

Re: Bulb kit for driving X350 in France

... I've always bought a bulb kit for previous cars (XJ40 mainly). Is there one for the X350 or should I just buy a generic kit from RAC or whoever? Main thought is those rather expensive lamps at the front. ... I presume you mean a kit of bulbs to satisfy les flics rather than anything to do with ...

Knowing absolutely nothing about this, but suspecting the blue box is hiding a standard protocol (e.g. some years ago I was going to build some video editing software; my camcorder had a proprietary controller cord, but reading their literature carefully, is was just a very slow ethernet (8KHz!) jus...

Original dealer prices

This is probably a fool's errand, or a mission for our esteemed editor: a number of JEC members will be exhibiting their cars at the next Bicester Heritage Scramble on Sunday 6th Oct. We've been asked to display the original dealer price in the windscreen. Ah, but where to get it! And, of course, wh...

Re: Code reader....any recommendations

All the Jaguar-specific stuff on the Foxwell unit is under the Land Rover selection (I think they just ran out of space on the menu for the word Jaguar!). When you go through the initial car setup/registration (as far as I remember, it uses the car VIN) it selects most of the appropriate options for...

Re: Coolant - Engine block drain plug

I've one of those electric drill mini pumps attached to a length of PVC hose that fits neatly into the hole where the RH banjo bolt goes through the top of the radiator. That lets me suck the water out down to the level of the bottom of the radiator. That leaves a fair bit, so if you want to refill ...

The first press on the fob locks the doors. The second press double locks them, so then it winds the mirrors in as it assumes you're leaving for some time.

Re: X350/8 Air suspension unit replacement option.

In my opinion, the "Air Dominance" web site looks unreliable. The "English" has the strange syntax that suggests the writer was not a native English speaker - not in itself a problem, but you'd expect someone in Cheam (where they claim to be) to have a local to check the spelling and syntax. The lin...

Re: Mystery black box - any idea what it is?

The manuals should come with a set of wiring diagrams (section 86.x.x as far as I remember), though of course you're at the mercy of whoever compiled your manuals from eManual. You probably don't want to know, but the official Jaguar manuals on DVD/USB key are available for £75 from SNG Barratt amon...
