Re: XJ5.3 Radiator

It's a year or two since I did the job so I'm afraid my memory isn't good enough to recall whether it was a left or right hand thread. Mike.

Re: XJ5.3 Radiator

Hi Guys, panic over, removed the top fixings for the fan mounting plate and managed to move that back a touch, removed the six bolts holding down the slam panel and managed to move that forward enough to get my hand and spanner on the viscous coupler centre nut, big spanner on the spindle and off sh...

Re: XJ5.3 Radiator

Hi Mike, yes that seems inevitable, I made a mistake saying it was mounted on the water pump, I see it has its own casting, jockey wheel and adjuster. I did wonder if I could remove the casting complete with pulley and fan assembly but alas the space does not allow it, as you say its going to be ski...

Re: XJ5.3 Radiator

Thanks guys, by the remarks, I am going to go with the suggestion of a re-core, makes sense, get it upgraded, keep the dimensions and fixings in the correct place. If I had the tools I would have attempted both these jobs (not the re-core) as there is a great step by step photographic account by a g...

XJ5.3 Radiator

Hello All Ordered a new front crank seal complete with machined spacer to cure an oil drip and the local garage was going to fit it today and give her an oil change and filter. But as we know things are never that straight forward with an old Jaguar. Drove it in, we lifted the bonnet to decide if he...

Re: Fuel Transfer

Hi Mike Much appreciated, I have by chance a new old stock switch laying about. I have not had the car long and currently doing short test runs to make sure she is as good as she can be. I shall check what they are doing, or not in my case. I have to say that the pressurised fuel delivery and return...

Fuel Transfer

Hello all, new member here. Only recently got my 79 series 2 V12 running but noticed a smell of petrol after a few miles in and the offside tank sender showing a brimming tank and nearside registering empty, this was after I had put £40 worth to each. I know this sounds like a transfer valve problem...

Newbie with incoming Jaguar

Hi everyone, just bought my first Jaguar ever after getting rid of my Boxster. Decided that it was time to own a classic again as I really enjoyed my last one (A Triumph Vitesse). The Jaguar XJ cars have always held a fascination for me and have taken the plunge, so after a viewing and a good few gr...
