Re: Main instruments and gear lever interlock

Excellent - thanks very much.
I'm away for a few days but I've left the battery disconnected for the next few days until I get back. I'll do the hard reset (and yes I do understand what you mean by that) and see where that gets us.

Re: Main instruments and gear lever interlock

Hi Astromorg. That makes sense.
I don't have JTIS so if you can point me in the right direction I'd be very grateful.
The battery was connected when I took the IP out. Maybe that wasn't wise!
Do you think if I disconnected the battery die a few days that the CAN will re-establish itself?

Re: Main instruments and gear lever interlock

I've had a good look this afternoon for any plugs or wires that may be loose but can't see anything amiss. I undid both plugs to the instrument panel just to make double sure that the pins were all clean and straight and that the plug was seated properly. I've checked every fuse and spent quite some...

Re: How good is the x300!

I had an ancient X300 3.2 Executive for a while that I used as a daily driver. It had done a quarter of a million miles, the body was shabby and it was nothing special to look at. A worn out old shed one step from the breakers yard.
But the drive was still sublime!

Re: Main instruments and gear lever interlock

Thanks Astromorg - brilliant information! I have an iCarsoft scanner so let's see if there are any fault codes. I was thinking of plugging the scanner in anyway hoping that I could interrogate the operation of the brake switch and gear lever solenoid. I'll report back tomorrow but first priority wil...

Re: Main instruments and gear lever interlock

Thanks for your thoughts. I'm as sure as I can be that both plugs are correctly connected. I took it out again after the first time to check all the pins and did a continuity test between the pin for the lighting and ground and that was OK so I think the panel is working properly. The connectors wer...

Main instruments and gear lever interlock

Oh blimey! What have I done now? It all started easy enough. The illumination behind the main instruments was not complete on my 2001 XKR. There were obviously a couple of bulbs that needed to be replaced. There is a bit of dismantling before the instrument pack can come out but nothing very challen...

Re: big end shennanigans

This thread started to go of topic with an interesting debate about electrification of our classic cars so I have moved the last 2 posts to a new thread in the "General Comment and Chat" section of Club Comment so that conversation can flourish without hi-jacking this thread. Best wishes David Randa...
