Re: New member, new x308

Hi Dan and a warm welcome to the forum. Sounds like you have found the main issue that that sends these wonderful cars to the scrap yard and that is RUST :( . Still, all things can be sorted with dedication and if you can do the work yourself it can keep the cost's down. Just like any other hobby it ...

Re: Restricted Performance

Hello Tattyhead. I would suspect a faulty coil pack on cylinder 3 which is causing the misfire. Once changed you'll probably find the other codes will disappear. After clearing the codes you should have the P1000 which changes to P1111 after the drive cycle is completed :D . Good luck. Let us know h...

Hi richard.wyke628 and welcome to the forum. You'll find loads of info on here about this luxurious model. Get the garage or whoever you are using to check the car over to make sure the engine chain upper tensioners have been swapped for the latest metal ones. Also the thermostat tower,if its black ...

Re: Restricted performance mode

Hi Jag190902, Now there's a question, some always go with Jaguar only parts while others refuse to pay the higher price and go with aftermarket. Myself I go for good pre-owned original equipment, for example I had a coil pack go on me back in March and when I went to change it found two had been chang...

Re: Restricted performance mode

Hi Jag190902, Your codes indicate a faulty coil-pack on the third cylinder back from the radiator on the drivers side(If you have a RHD vehicle). image.png The letter's in the chart refer to the coil packs. Once you've changed the coil pack you might find the P1316 code will go. Not sure if the othe...

Hi John, If your using Adobe Acrobat Reader here's a link if your not: https://get.adobe.com/uk/reader/ It's a free programme and very good. Re: Engine restricted performance

Hi John, Sorry my mistake I meant passenger side not driver's side.(Don't worry your not being thick :) ) Regarding 2 Pin or 4 Pin I would think as being it's a 98 it's probably 2 Pin but always best to check before ordering a replacement. On the Jaguar Classic Parts website it states that cars up t...

Re: Engine restricted performance

Hi John,
Cylinder 7 is third cylinder back from the radiator on the drivers side.
Jag V8 Cylinder & Firing Order.jpg
Jag V8-Cylinder Numbering and Firing Order
Probably the coil pack, easy to change on that side.
6 bolts hold the cover on,2 bolts keep the coil pack in place.
Torque bolts to 6-8 NM.
Hope that helps.

Re: New member, x308 possible engine seizure

Hello Firth_barge and welcome to the forum. A pretty serious first post, wow. I really feel for you, must be so disheartening. I would start the diagnoses by going back to basic's and go through the process of elimination. Have a look at the battery first, bad ones can cause all sorts of weird ...

Re: Air Flow Meter / Maf Sensor

Hi Doug. I can't see any reason why not to clean the MAF. It does get gummed up with crud so does have an influence on the information it sends back to the ECU. Spray 10 to 15 spurts of the mass air flower cleaner onto the wire. Don't scrub the parts; you may break the wire. Allow the MAF sensor to ...

Re: Just done what I shouldnt!

Hi Pat, In my world I owe a lot of thanks for my car cover. It was bought for me as a birthday present from my daughter just after I'd bought my X308. I was a bit hesitant about using it at first and it did take me a while to use it. I think I didn't want people to think I was being too pretentious. ...
