Re: 96 XK8 P1367 & P1368 Fault Codes & Engine Stalling - Now P0335

Hope you're feeling good having made such encouraging progress! There seem to be as many opinions of the use of 'electrical greases' in connectors as there are on which are the best tyres or oil! Here's a link to an interesting article on the subject https://www.w8ji.com/dielectric_grease_vs_conduct...

Re: Differential Life

Changing all the fluids in a newly purchased car is never a bad investment in its future, though access to the diff in an XK is not easy; there's no drain point so a suction pump has to be used through the filler plug. I've followed/participated in two other Jaguar XK8/R Forums over the last ten yea...

Re: 96 XK8 P1367 & P1368 Fault Codes & Engine Stalling - Now P0335

As Mike says, start with getting the battery on top form. Time spent pursuing faults while the battery is suspect, is seldom time spent well! :x

Re: 96 XK8 P1367 & P1368 Fault Codes & Engine Stalling

P1367 is applicable to Ignition Module No 1 and P1368 is for IM No 2. It would be quite a coincidence for both modules to fail together, so checking the electrical diagrams for a common point immediately puts the Ignition Coil Relay under suspicion. That relay is in the engine compartment, in the ne...

Re: No power to fuel pump

Power to the fuel pump is from Relay No 4 and Fuse No 7, 20A, both in the Trunk Fuse Box. The Ground point is in the rear, driver's side corner of the boot/trunk, above the battery. You can see these in Fig 4.4 of this link that you'll find useful throughout your time with the car! http://www.jagrep...

Re: X150 Start Up Smoke

I would say starting with the valve stem seals is going in a bit deep for a first stab! They don't commonly fail, especially at that mileage! I would start with something simpler and easier to access and that would be the Full Load Breather pipework on the passenger side cylinder head of the engine ...

Re: Diff oil change

'Fraid you'll have to look more closely, because it's where you think it is! - 3/4 way up the rear cover. Accessibility seems to vary slightly from car to car, but it's always awkward. I have a dedicated piece of steel, 1/2 x 1/2 x 1 inch that can be manoeuvred into the square recess in the level pl...

Re: 2003 XKR Alpine Navi

Fear not, there are no codes associated with the satnav. If the analogue clock is showing, you should push the joystick In to Enter. That should bring up the Caution page. Push Enter again to get to the map and that should be that. Let us know if that doesn't work in case a deeper solution is requir...

Re: Rear speakers 1998 Xkr converntible

IIRC, the speakers are not of a 'standard' size, so if it were mine I'd be phoning (not emailing!) Eurojags on 01325 722777 and getting an immediate response about availability and price of a good, used one. Website at www.eurojag.com is a guide but doesn't cover their full, up-to-date stock, hence ...

Re: UNDERTRAYFIXINGS

I don't know how the X150 undertrays are attached, but if it's like the earlier X100, then a new set of chimney/spire nuts and new stainless steel M6 screws and washers are easily obtained from ebay. The wide spire nuts used by Jaguar take a bit of hunting down (narrow ones are common), but are avai...

Re: Question re codes on VIN sticker

Unfortunately, Jaguar make no reference to that particular block and leave it blank when explaining the XK8/R label in their Technical Manual. Colour and trim are self explanatory, though the codes are more obscure, but you might like to know that 2010Kg is the Gross Vehicle Weight, Box 1, 1000Kg, i...

Re: Ignition switched supply XK8 - 2003 Coupe

Sorry to disappoint you Ron, but I don't think there's anything (Accessible) on the driver's side. If you want to drill through, I would think that either side of the brake servo pedestal would be the most straightforward route, being relatively easy access for the drill and an accessible space unde...

Re: Buzzing sound

Sorry to be so late in getting to this! Almost certainly the noise you report is coming from behind the little 1 inch square grill just to the side of the steering column. In there is a small fan unit that takes in cabin air and measures its temperature to inform the climate control system. The gril...

Re: AJ27 OR AJ26

Maybe you should check the actual engine numbers against the logbook details. The engine number identifies the time and date that the engine build completed. That should help clarify what's happened. For example, my engine no is 2B0504281014, that shows the engine to have been completed at 1014 on 2...
